The UK-based charity Path to Possibilities (P2P) hosted a sophisticated black tie gala at the superbly located 5 stars Grange City Hotel; a diamond’s throw away from the Tower of London. The annual fundraising gala now in its third year, included a 3 course meal, raffle draw and an auction with the opportunity of being glamourized by one of London’s leading Makeup artists Buki Akinsanya. The evening featured live entertainment from the internationally acclaimed British soul singer Omar and the leading lady in Afro Beats May7ven. Guests were treated to a mini fashion show in which couture milliner Emma Brown showcased her delicate bespoke handmade head pieces.
Education at the heart of a good cause
A human being is not attaining his full heights until he is educated.
Path to Responsibilities (P2P) supports talented youths in Nigeria from disadvantaged backgrounds who often do not have access to good education. Since its inception in 2009, the charity has worked with the Caleb Group of Schools to place qualifying pupils within their private institutions in order to give them the best start in life. For the passed three years P2P has been fundraising through exceptional programs and events as it relies on donations from individuals since it does not have any external funders. On the night over £4500 were raised to go towards a good cause.
Performances from May7en and and Omar were the icing on the cake. The guests were on their feet dancing to the sweet melodies of Omar
who had us swooning and swaying to classic hits such as ‘There’s nothing like this’. May7en brought a high-energy-filled, dance-filled performance which would have Ciara raise an eyebrow or two. She was outstanding (and very friendly too); reminding us why she is dubbed the first lady of Afro-beats.
What Madi wore….
Dressing for a gala while still incorporating a head wrap was a little challenging but I got there in the end. Who said head-wrapping by night was impossible? Find out more about head wrapping here.
